After the title (verso blank) follow the dedication to the Roman emperor Rudolph II (1552-1612; f. (1)r, verso blank), the preface (f. 2r; verso blank), and the text (ff. 3r-8r); the 102 woodcut figures of (half-) bits and bridles follow on 89 sheets (versos blank). The explicatory text of the figs. 1-60 (with fig. MM on plate 9, and HH and LL on plate 54), I-XXIV, AA-OO (and a-z) is bound at the end (ff. (1)r-(6)v, followed by a ‘Brevis admonition. De fraenis tempore belli equis imponendis ac primum de iis, quibus levis a maturae homines uti debent’ (ff. (7)r-(8)r), and the coat-of-arms (f. (9)r, verso blank).
