« The Haflinger, with its striking appearance, unmistakable colour and gentle nature, is rarely forgotten once seen. This book, which is the first to be written about the breed from the British point of view, records the Haflinger’s development from its early origins in the Tyrolean Alps to the present day. Originally developed as an all-purpose farm horse sure-footed and hardy enough to survive in its mountain home, its re-appearance as an all round riding and driving horse is charted. The book illustrates the progress of the breed from the time when just a few Haflingers first arrived in Britain in the 1960s up until today, when approximately 500 animals are registered.
