« The publishers insist upon having an other edition of Baucher, and call upon the Translator for a corrected copy. A few corrections have been made; many more might be made, but a person really desirous of making himself a rider, and his "quad" a saddle-horse, does not require a work of literary merit, but merely facts that he can understand and apply. To give the exact meaning of our enthusiastic French friend is impossible — his manner and style of Ianguage cannot be Anglified. One hint more — the rider commencing to work with his first horse, had better omit any improve ments upon the author. » Présentation de l’éditeur (1856)
