« After a connection of nearly nine years with the Cavalry Service, and a close observance
of every thing relating to Horsemanship, the Author of this work has endeavoured to
convey practical information on all Equestrian Exercises by an easy and progressive
method.
To make the work more intelligible and interesting to all admirers of the Horse and
his performances, stable and jockey - terms have been substituted for all hard names;
and as it is almost exclusively devoted to the Art of Riding, any reference to the
veterinary art and all anatomical descriptions, with their technicalities, have been
