« Hippiatre anglais de la fin du XVIIIesiècle, qui pratiqua d’abord dans le Berkshire, puis à Londres. Il a publié en 1790 Practical observations upon thorn wounds, punctured tendons, and ligamentary lameness, in horses, with experimental instructions for their treatment and cure. Son principal ouvrage, relatif à la maréchalerie,The Gentleman’s Stable Directory, or Modern System of Farriery (Londres, 1788, in-8°) a eu de nombreuses éditions; ce n’est cependant qu’une impudente compilation des auteurs anglais, Gibson, Braken, Bartlet, etc. »Neumann (1896)
