Exhibition in Leipzig until November 8

The Leipzig University Library, the Custody and the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Leipzig, jointly present a beautiful exhibition of a unique collection of books on hypiatrics.

Many of the pieces, some of which come from the former Dresden University of Veterinary Medicine, are presented for the first time.

The exhibition “Von der Schönheit und den Leiden der Pferde” (on the beauty and suffering of horses) is divided into two parts: the books and prints are exhibited in the Bibliotheca Albertina, and the veterinary objects in the Gallery of the New Augusteum.

The works of European equestrian literature on display are of exceptional quality and date mostly from the 16th century. They convey an idea of the history of veterinary medicine and an idea of the lost world of horses in Europe.

Until November 8, 2020.
