Italy takes the initiative
After Paris, at Hermès in 2019, and Caen at the University's MRSH in 2021, this time the operation has been made possible thanks to the support of CONI and FISE (the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation). Italy is thus playing its full part in the international development of the World Horse Library, and will be pulling out all the stops by inviting personalities such as the President of the CIO, Thomas Bach, the President of the FEI, Ingmar de Vos, as well as some of his predecessors: Princess Anne of England, Princess Haya of Jordan and many others. All this thanks to the efforts and mediation of Mauro Checcoli, former Olympic champion (gold medal in event at Tokyo in 1964), former President of the FISE and President of the Italian Olympic Academy.
Experts
The World Horse Library and the FISE have enlisted the help of Italian and French experts for this operation, in particular Mario Gennero (who joined the World Horse Library team at its inception), Giovanni Battista Tomassini, a journalist with RAI, researcher and enthusiast of ancient equestrian literature, Umberto Martuscelli, etc...
However, it is Alain Francqueville, President of La Mission française pour la Culture Equestre, who will open the conference with a talk on the development of Latin equestrian sport from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, a sort of overview of three centuries that takes us to Federico Caprilli, the father of Italian - and modern – jumping show, who taught at Saumur where Pierre Danloux
